Lo Sprecometro is an app conceived and developed by the Waste Watcher International Observatory on food and sustainability, born from the joint work of the Department of Agro-Food Sciences and Technologies of the University of Bologna and Last Minute Market social enterprise academic spin-off of the Alma Mater for the Zero Waste Campaign. The Sprecometro measures everyones food waste in grams, assessing its economic and environmental impact and proposes, on the basis of the results of the survey, educational content aimed at reducing waste quantitatively and qualitatively. It is therefore possible to evaluate the progress made over time by punctually updating ones own behavior (waste diary) allowing everyone to set reduction objectives in line with the UN Agenda for sustainable development (12.3: halve food waste by 2030). It also allows you to compare yourself with other users, even creating reference clusters (family, school/university class, company, public, administration…). The Sprecometro is also connected to an Instagram channel where users can share results and progress: its a challenge to be won together. The Sprecometro, based on self-perception, aims to generate awareness and knowledge useful for directing individual choices regarding the sustainable use of natural resources, the reduction and prevention of food waste and the adoption of healthy and sustainable diets.
